1 Oven Preheated to 400°F (200°C), then raised to 425°F
1 Baking tray Large enough to fit all sprouts without crowding
1 Parchment Paper To prevent sticking and ease cleaning
1 Sharp knife For trimming sprouts and slicing turkey bacon
1 Cutting board For prepping vegetables and bacon
1 Mixing bowl To toss sprouts with oil and seasoning
1 Silicone brush To apply maple syrup evenly
1 Small spatula Optional – for serving or lifting hot pieces
1 Measuring spoons For oil, maple syrup, salt, and spices
- 20 large Brussels sprouts Large, about 1 to 1.5 inches wide
- 10 slices Turkey bacon Thin-cut, halal or plant-based
- & tbsp Olive oil Extra virgin
- 0.5 tsp Sea salt Or to taste
- 0.25 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground
- 2 tbsp Maple syrup Pure Grade A amber
- 1 tsp Fresh rosemary Finely chopped – optional
Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water. Trim the stem ends and remove any wilted outer leaves. Slice each sprout in half lengthwise.
Season the Sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, and chopped rosemary (if using), ensuring all sides are evenly coated.
Slice the Turkey Bacon: Using a sharp knife and cutting board, slice each turkey bacon strip lengthwise, then crosswise, to create four thin strips per slice (40 total).
Wrap the Sprouts: Wrap one strip of bacon around each sprout half, starting on the flat side and finishing underneath to secure. Place them cut-side down on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Bake – First Phase: Place the tray in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) and bake for 20 minutes, or until the bacon begins to crisp and the sprouts soften.
Brush with Maple Syrup: Remove the tray from the oven. Using a silicone brush, lightly glaze each bacon-wrapped sprout with maple syrup.
Final Bake for Crisping: Return the tray to the oven. Increase the temperature to 425°F (220°C) and bake for another 8–10 minutes, until golden, crispy, and caramelized.
Serve: Let the bites cool slightly. Transfer to a serving platter with cocktail picks or forks. Serve warm as a festive appetizer or side dish.
- Can be made ahead and refrigerated (uncooked) for up to 3 days.
